Ronald McDonald House Charities

Ronald McDonald House Charities® Canada

Families are at the heart of who we are and what we do at McDonald’s® Canada - We are there with families during their everyday moments, their celebratory moments and, through Ronald McDonald Houses, even their most difficult moments.

Ronald McDonald Houses provide a home for out-of-town families to stay while their seriously ill children are being treated at a nearby hospital.

“I lived at that hospital day in and day out and saw families having meals around the table and playing board games. It was a place for a private talk, a quiet cry or a long overdue nap. A place where little girls could come to have their nails painted or parents could meet others and realize that they were not alone in their struggles.

For those lucky enough to never have to experience firsthand a sick child, I imagine it would be difficult to comprehend how vital and necessary the services are that the Ronald McDonald rooms and houses provide. From my end, I simply wanted to pass along my heartfelt thanks…” Kerry McAleese, guest of the Ronald McDonald Family Room® at Hamilton’s McMaster Children’s Hospital

The first Canadian Ronald McDonald House® opened in Toronto in 1981. Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada was founded by McDonald’s Canada in 1982 to ensure that the House in Toronto, along with all future Houses, would have an everlasting foundation of support. Today, Canada is home to fourteen Ronald McDonald Houses, nine Ronald McDonald Family Rooms and one Ronald McDonald Care Mobile®.

Ronald McDonald Houses

Fourteen Ronald McDonald Houses coast-to-coast provide a home for out-of-town families of seriously sick or injured children while their child is being treated at a nearby hospital.

Ronald McDonald Family Rooms

Nine Family Rooms in Canadian children’s hospitals create a calm, nurturing space within the hospital walls, allowing parents to be steps away from their sick child's bedside.

Ronald McDonald Care Mobile

is a mobile health unit that enables free and easily accessible medical care for children and their families right in their own community.
